    Description

    1 x NOS 1.5K 1/2 Watt RPC Noninductive Wirewound Resistor! 1950s! 12AX7 Cathode
The final photo depicts the internal construction of several noninductive types.
    Why use noninductive wirewounds?
Noninductive wirewound resistors exhibit the highest stability, the lowest noise level, and the most revealing sonics of all resistor formats! They are the ultimate
    Old School passive component.
Because of their expense -- in the 1950s, noninductive wirewounds typically ranged in price from .00 to .00 each -- this resistor type was employed in only the best audio equipment of the era -- gear made by firms such as Regency, Cinema Engineering, and Westrex, the pro audio branch of Western Electric.
Resistors are, far and away, the most prevalent component in audio circuitry. The installation of noninductive wirewound resistors in place of generic carbon composition and/or metal film types is the most audible modification available to the audiophile and recording professional.
This resistor type will never again be manufactured in meaningful quantities as the tooling, the techniques, and the trained workforce required for production is all but extinct.
It is only a matter of time before the audio blogosphere becomes aware of the format, at which point the price of noninductives will rise substantially.
We have the only extensive inventory of noninductive wirewound resistors. It will not be available forever.
