Vintage World War II Era1942 LIVE OAK, Perry and Gulf RAILROAD Colorful Calendar Print of Steam Locomotive Engine Illustration by R. WILLHELM.............Box 25: liveoakApprox. 10.75" x 14.75". This print was originally the top of a 1942 calendar. The illustration is extremely attractive, painted by Roy Willhelm (1895-1954) . His art commands good prices! This is NOT an original work of art-it is a cardboard print. The Live Oak, Perry and Gulf R.R. (nicknamed "The Loping Gopher") was a Florida shortline that would eventually become the Live Oak, Perry & Gulf Railroad. Started in the late 1800's , it moved lumber in the northern central region of the Sunshine State. Incorporated in 1903 and reorganized a few years later as the LOP&G, the road connected Live Oak, Florida, to Perry,FL with several small branch lines connecting other communities. Condition:
Vintage WW2 era 1942 Cardboard topper for calendar pages. NO PAGES remaining. Colors bright and in nice condition for the age. There are some scrapes and scratches and a few tiny age spots , but very few. The corners are badly bumped, and has some scrapes and curling up of the top layer of paper. The top right corner is missing a chip of top paper. Otherwise the Train and men and horses are beautifully illustrated. Age darkening and some numbers written on the back.
