This is a complete set of new crossover capacitors for one Acoustic Research AR-5 speaker. These replace the old original capacitors which may have failed or shifted in value over the years. For a pair of speakers, you will need two kits.
These are capacitors of superior quality to the originals. They have outstanding frequency response, high current capability and do not deteriorate with age like many of the old style electrolytic capacitors of years ago. A schematic diagram will be included to assist with the change out. There is no polarity to the connections.
Replace one capacitor at a time. Cut the original capacitor leads close to the capacitor. Strip back the wire insulation. Connect the replacement capacitor leads to the original wires using the wire nuts. As there is no polarity to the new capacitors, it doesn't matter which lead is connected to which original wire. Remove the old capacitor and secure the replacement in the same area. Hot melt glue works well and was often used by AR.
To install these you will be removing the woofer. We suggest you purchase a new package of cabinet sealer for reinstalling the woofer. The old sealer is likely dry and hard and difficult to reform. This can be found in Dept. OTHER SPEAKER SERVICE PARTS.
